Kingsford Crowned NSW MX Champ

GYTR Yamaha Junior Racing’s Ryder Kingsford has won the 9 -11 years’ class at the New South Wales Motocross Championships, after the third and final round of the series was wrapped up at the Lakes circuit, over the weekend.

Kingsford took out the championship win in fine style, taking the final round victory with 1-2-1 results on his YZ85 and made it a day to remember. He looked great charging up and down the long hills of the Lakes track, near Newcastle and was suitably pumped to claim the state championship.

“This is so awesome,” said the young charger. “I really wanted to win this championship and when I fell off a little while ago and broke my collarbone, I thought it was all over but I healed up quick and I was able to start riding again and get ready for this race.

“The track today was good and I like racing here. It’s a cool track with some good jumps and hills.

“I couldn’t have done it without the support of Yamaha Junior Racing and all our team sponsors as well as my family and Darren Thompson for helping us it. It’s pretty cool seeing a number 1 on my bike,” he ends.

Kingsford proved to be a model of consistency throughout the championship, winning two out of the three rounds and his worst place finish in the nine motos contested was fourth. He claimed the championship with a 27-point gap to his nearest rival.

Things didn’t fare so well for team mates, Bayley Clancy and Kade Kingsford who both experienced a tough day with crashes marring any chance of a good final result. Clancy did rebound well on his YZ85 in the 13-14 years group finishing with 4-5-4 results and just off the round podium in fourth place.

Yamaha mounted Caleb Clifton also rode well to take the round and championship win in the 13-14 years 125cc class on his YZ125.
